The USCCB is an assembly of the Catholic Church hierarchy who work together to unify,
coordinate, promote, and carry on Catholic activities in the United States; to organize
and conduct religious, charitable, and social welfare work at home and abroad; to aid in
education; and to care for immigrants. The bishops themselves constitute the membership of
the Conference and are served by a staff of over 350 lay people, priests, deacons, and
religious.

Designed to provide a comprehensive approach to preventing and managing
child sexual abuse: reporting allegation; response and care for victims,
their families and affected communities; establishment of ethical and
behavioral standards for ministry and to provide a safe environment for
children and young people.
VIRTUS training programs
All VIRTUS training programs, including the PROTECTING GOD'S CHILDREN
programs, seek to create a child-safe environment by raising the awareness
and educating adults (clergy, religious, teachers, volunteers & parents) to
the dangers of sexual abuse,
the warning signs of abuse and the ways to prevent abuse. The site also
includes "Practical Advise for Parents on how to Prevent Sexual Abuse" and
other child safety articles.
